Monasterio de Tarlac || Funnside Ningnangan

(Oh, crap! I was ready to write about this last week but then I seem to lose EVERYTHING I had in mind.)

Life begins at 30, they say.

I used to believe that age is just a number. Pero iba pala when you realize that you’re aging. It seems like you suddenly make real plans so the days ahead of you will be so much better because it kind of seem like suddenly, you’re running out of time.

At the same time, I also realize that I sometimes need to pause for a while just allow life to give me a pleasant surprise. So for my birthday, I let the husband decide where will we go and what are we going to do.

Off we drove to Monasterio de Tarlac. It was thankfully a warm day until we reach our destination. It rained there non-stop which is understandable because 1) it’s rainy season and 2) it is situated at the peak of a mountain. After all, rain is blessing.

Peaceful. Serene. I felt so much blessed for being there. Apparently, the reason why I’ve never been there despite planning so was because I will be there on my birthday. It was a beautiful place I actually felt like I was out of the country. Unfortunately, the schedule of the mass for weekdays is at 10 in the morning (while we arrived at past three) so we just prayed in the newly built church and in the chapel. Monasterio de Tarlac is a home for seminaries and it is also where the relic of the Holy Cross is found. Like I’ve mentioned earlier, it is located atop a mountain in San Jose, Tarlac.

However, it’s tranquility also brought sadness to me as I remember that day being my first birthday without my father. I wish I was still celebrating with him.

After roaming around a little, we headed back to the road and agreed to dine in my new favorite dining place – Ningnangan Restaurant in Guiguinto, Bulacan. I loooove their foods. You will be the one to get from their wet market and then they will cook it for you. I particularly like that they offer seafoods and they cook really well at a reasonable price. Plus factor that they have something like a greetings corner where in you can write your greetings on a piece of paper then they will be announcing it. Cool, right?

We invited my in laws to have dinner with us. It kind of feels lonely if there’d only be me, mister, the little kid and my mom so I invited them over. The more, the merrier.

Thank you Lord another year. ❤

  1. July babies!!! Haha. Apparently hindi ko gusto ang ningnangan sa Pampanga. TBH hindi ko gusto ang lutong kapampangan, in contrary sa sinasabi nilang culinary capital of the Philippines. Hahahaha. Wala lang mema. Hehe

      1. Oo nga. IDK. Sa panlasa ko kasi and Cynthia will agree, iba ibang luto same taste. And I can’t tolerate salty foods. Sisig lang talaga ang pinaka gusto kong Kapampangan dish.
