Papa – he can fix almost everything. He has a vast knowledge of DIY things, especially at home.
He built our house out of scrap materials from their projects back during the Modern Metal (their business) days. We started from scratch – from our home being just a mere building of hollow blocks. Over the years, when there’s enough budget, they were able to renovate each part one by one. Yung taas, dati wala pang kisame.
His engineering skills, despite not having a degree, is superb. Yung tipong hindi tinuturo sa school.
He can make useful things at home out of scrap materials – whether steel or plywood o kahit na anong kahoy at kayang pagtagpi-tagpiin.
He instantly becomes tubero, repair man, carpenter, electrician.
He can restore old items such as electric fans, sirang upuan, lumang sofa, cabinets, kaya niyang gawan ng paraan yan.
Oha!
He’s a good gardener.
He also do household chores. He cleans the bathroom, kitchen, the whole house!
Most of all, he’s the master of cooking at home. Nobody cooks the way he does. Incomplete ingredients? NO problem, kaya niyang gawan ng paraan ang mga rekado and will still turn out na masarap. He prepares special menus with or without occasion.
He is indeed our king of DIYs.
Days before he left, he was busy fixing things around our home. Inayos niya yung garden and came up with a small christmas tree outside. I even remember arguing with him kasi magsesemento na naman daw ang lolo niyo. E may naglalaba non. That’s our last argument.
I miss you, Pa. I miss having small fights with you. I know you’re had a better boodle fight up there. You can eat as many as you can now. Happy father’s day! We love you!
